This is honestly a little chilling, him giving a voice to the pipe. Thereโs really dark ugly honestly under the surface here, and I say that with sympathy as a person whoโs also battled addiction. Itโs incredible how he could somehow turn experiences like this into legitimately funny comedy.
Illeanna Douglas is sublimely perfect in this scene. Very nuanced.

Wanna know why EVERYONE loved and still loves Ricard Pryor? Because on stage and in pretty much all aspects of his life, nothing and I do mean nothing, was off limits to him. He owned his faults and showed you them and lets face it, there were many, but he somehow made them funny. Now you can argue that's trivializing those faults in this day and age, but don't forget, he's leaving it to you to decide if it's funny or not.

Trying to forget
I love Pryor I consider him the greatest comedian of all time. And I felt sorry for how broken he was. I love this bit as Jim Brown was always there for Richard. He looked out for him more than most. Shame Richard Pryor blew his friendship. As he seems one of the few people in his life. That genuinely cared for and tried looking out for him.
